Washington, USA – Tensions in the Middle East resurfaced this week as the United States and Iran traded attacks.
The latest development came after Washington targeted Iran’s Larak Island, followed by attacks on equipment linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In response, Iran also retaliated against U.S. military assets in several countries in the region, including Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq.
Amid this renewed development, U.S. Vice President JD Vance was asked about the latest events.
While he acknowledged what happened, he said it could not be called a war.
“I wouldn’t call it a war. Right now, there is no active shooting,” Vance said, before clarifying. “I recognise there have been places where this has flared up.”
He also gave a brief indication of how long the conflict between the two countries could last.
But his answer was that he did not know. Instead, he blamed Iran for the situation.
“When you ask, ‘When will this end?’, you’re asking me a question like: When will the Iranians stop shooting at ships?” Vance told reporters.
“I think the reality is, I don’t know the answer to that question. You’d have to ask the Iranians.”
U.S. President Donald Trump also previously said that Iran had been significantly weakened.
But he made clear that this would not prevent them from carrying out attacks.
Iran has yet to respond to Vance’s latest remarks.
