Washington, USA – The United States has carried out yet again a new wave of strikes against Iran, further escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, said the strikes were carried out on Monday, September 1 and targeted facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC.
“U.S. forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine laying capabilities, and communications sites,” CENTCOM said.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes followed what it described as recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. service members.
“The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members,“ it added.
This latest strikes follow a renewed tension over the weekend after U.S. forces struck Iran’s Larak Island. Iran then launched missiles at two U.S. air bases in Jordan, according to reports.
These developments happened after months of relative calm, during which the United States and Iran largely avoided direct military action despite continued threats and hostile statements.
Reports meanwhile stated that Iran had struck U.S. assets in Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq as retaliation.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social described the latest strike as a justified attack.
Trump warned that if Iran retaliates, the United States would respond with an even stronger attack.
“If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!”
