Manila, Philippines — The annual Wattah Wattah Festival will be bigger and more vibrant this year as it expands into a two-day celebration for the first time in its history.
According to Mayor Francis Zamora, the extended festival aims to further showcase the rich culture, traditions, and lively spirit of the people of San Juan.
Traditionally held only on June 24, the Wattah Wattah Festival 2026 will now begin on June 23 and conclude on June 24, offering residents and visitors more opportunities to participate in the festivities.
The first day of the celebration will feature the Wattah Wattah Parade, Street Dance Competition, and Festival Queen Competition. On the second day, activities will include the Santong Tao Float Competition, Watt-Ah Barangay: Best Booth Competition, and the much-anticipated Wattah Wattah Basaan and Street Party.
In preparation for the festival, the local government has also announced temporary road closures to accommodate the scheduled events.
On June 23, Pinaglabanan Street will be closed from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, on June 24, Pinaglabanan Street and adjacent roads within the designated Basaan Zone will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and expect traffic rerouting in affected areas to avoid travel disruptions.
During a recent briefing, Mayor Zamora shared details of the city’s preparations to ensure a safe, orderly, and enjoyable celebration for all participants. He emphasized that concerned agencies and local authorities are fully prepared to maintain security and public order throughout the two-day festival.
