Hongkong – Two of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong were among injured due to heavy rains, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
It is said that the Migrant Workers Office of the DMW continues to monitor the condition of the two Filipinos.
“Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office in Hong Kong (HK), is closely monitoring the condition of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were injured during yesterday’s heavy rainstorm,” DMW said in a statement.
Based on the agency’s information, the two Filipinos were a couple working at a resort in Sai Kung, New Territories in Hong Kong.
The two Filipinos were allegedly taking video pictures when the landslide occurred and damaged the facility.
“The two OFWs, a married couple working for a resort owner in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, were taking photos and videos of the storm’s damage to the facility when a landslide occurred,” DMW added.
The two were immediately taken to the hospital and given first aid.
It is said that the female victim suffered a head injury and is said to be in a stable condition.
The male victim sustained leg injuries and is currently undergoing operations.
The DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration have also provided initial financial assistance to the couple.
According to Hong Kong authorities, at least 30 were injured while almost 50 were killed in what is considered as the worst storm in the country’s history.
