The study also revealed that shipowners spent P54.3 Billion pesos directly before sending Filipino Seafarers abroad.
Direct remittances from Seafarers reached P277.4 Billion in just one year.
In addition to this, economic activity, house hold and an increase in the employment rate in the industry generates almost 400,000 job opportunities for Filipinos.
Currently, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) data, the employment rate of Filipino seafarers continues to increase every year.
According to ALMA, the seafaring industry is an important part of the economy with clear evidence-based policies.
