Manila Philippines — A Filipino among the five Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) aboard Singapore Airlines that was hit by severe turbulence on Tuesday is set to undergo neck surgery.
According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Singapore-based OFW suffered a neck fracture.
Although sensitive, the OFW is said to be in a stable condition.
“She is set to undergo surgery tonight to address her neck fracture. No word as yet on the treatment or surgery options for her back injuries,” according to the agency.
The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok reportedly visited the OFW on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another 62-year-old Filipino passenger remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) after becoming unconscious due to the incident.
“Doctors are monitoring his condition for further evaluation and treatment,” added the DMW.
The three UK-based OFWs are said to be in good condition.
A British national was killed after heavy turbulence hit Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 with 200 passengers and 18 crew members on board.
The management of the said plane promised that they will cover all the expenses of the passengers.
