PBBM GRANTS FORMER ILOILO CITY MAYOR MABILOG EXECUTIVE CLEMENCY

Manila, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has granted former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog’s petition for executive clemency over his administrative case, MalacaƱang palace announced on January 27, 2025.

In an official statement from the Office of the Executive Secretary, Lucas Bersamin confirmed that Mabilog was awarded with executive clemency, noting his leadership as one of the considerations made by Marcos for the decision.

“In view of former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog’s longstanding commitment to good governance, coupled with awards and recognition received by Iloilo City under his leadership, the President granted Mabilog’s petition for executive clemency in connection with his administrative case,” said Bersamin.

In line with the decision, penalties or disabilities resulting from his case is also removed.

In 2017, the Office of the Ombudsman dismissed Mabilog after he was convicted guilty of serious dishonesty and misconduct over alleged questionable wealth worth.

On that same year, Mabilog and his family went on a self-exile due to fear of life after being included in former president Rodrigo Duterte’s narco-list, which he had repeatedly denied

Mabilog is also facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Third Division and a violation of “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public OFficials and Employees” in a regional court in Cebu.

After 7 years, Mabilog returned to the Philippine sin September 2024 to attend House quad committee’s inquiry on the 2016 War on Drugs campaign to clear his name over his alleged involvement.
