DOUBLE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST CARLOS YULO HAILS AS PSA ‘ATHLETE OF THE YEAR’

Manila, Philippines – 2024 was indeed a year for Philippine sports, highlighting the significant feat of Filipino athletes during the Paris Olympics 2024.

This year’s Olympics marked the historic success of Gymnastic Olympian Carlos Yulo, as the first Filipino to bag two gold medals from the world’s prestigious sports competition.

Recognizing this outstanding and remarkable feat, Yulo was named as the 2024 Athlete of the Year by the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA).

In its upcoming Awards Night on January 27, PSA picked Yulo as their top choice to receive the highest honor, noting his achievements and contributions in the Philippine sports.

PSA president Nelson Beltran noted that Yulo’s giant feat in his Olympic performance is a big breakthrough worthy of the association’s highest award.

Yulo is the first gymnast to receive the honor since Pia Adelle Reyes in 1997, highlighting the tough qualifications for the award.

This award will be included in the long list of recognitions and honors Yulo receive this year following his great feat in the sports.
