EXPANDED SERVICE CONTRACTING PROGRAM LAUNCHED AT ARANETA CENTER TERMINAL IN CUBAO, QC

Manila, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is inspecting today the launch of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Service Contracting Program (SCP) at the Araneta Center Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City.

Under the Service Contracting Program (SCP), the government aims to help operators and drivers who have been severely affected by the oil crisis. 

According to President Bong Bong Marcos Jr., the agency will continue to implement programs that will help public transport operators and drivers that will help to them to continue operating despite the oil crisis.

While all passengers who can ride the SCP unit will continue to receive a 20% discount, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and students will receive a 40% discount.

Under the Net Service Contracting Program, the DOTR, LTFRB will pay bus drivers and operators P100 per kilometer, P40 per kilometer for modern jeepneys and P30 per kilometer for traditional jeepneys up to 100 kilometers per day.

Following this, Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said that the government can be counted on to continue implementing programs that will help drivers and commuters under the presidential directive. 

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) clarified that the President is no longer allowing the installation of GPS on PUVs, this is so that operators and drivers will not have any more difficulty entering the net service contracting program.

He said that operators and drivers will only need the QR code that will be provided by the LTFRB to monitor the kilometers driven by each PUV unit participating in the program.—Grachella Corazon, Eurotv News
