Manila, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that it will implement a three-month terminal fee suspension for public utility vehicle (PUV) operators transiting through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
In accordance with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which was recommended by DOTr Secretary Banoy Lopez to implement free terminal fees to help PUV operators ease their burden due to the high price of petroleum products.
According to the DOTr, this will be implemented starting May 18, 2026, where it is estimated that public utility vehicle (PUV) operators will save more than P5-M.
Because of this, it is ensured that operators will take home more daily income.
The said program covers all PUVs using or transiting through the PITX, including provincial buses, city buses, modern PUJs, traditional PUJs, UV Express vehicles, and taxis.
Based on the PITX terminal fees paid per onboarding of PUVs, provincial buses will pay up to P100, city buses and UV Express will pay P20, while the terminal fee for PUJs, Modern PUJs and taxis is around P10.
Meanwhile, the free terminal fees for PITX are expected to last for three months, but may be extended depending on the assessment or order of the DOTr.—Grachella Corazon, Eurotv News
