Manila, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is eyeing to launch job fairs every month to improve the rate of employment in the country.
In his speech during the Jobstreet Career Con 2025, Marcos emphasized his plans of conducting more job fairs, every month if feasible, to provide more job opportunities for potential Filipino employees, particularly the unemployed sector.
“Mababa po ngayon—ibinababa na po natin ang unemployment rate. Paunti na nang paunti ang hindi empleyadong Pilipino, ngunit hindi pa kami tapos do’n,” he said.
He noted that this program is just a pilot project to lessen the rate of unemployment in the country through introduce more working opportunities for Filipino workers.
Depending on the results, other measures shall be launched and pursued further.
“Ito po ay parang pilot project. Dahil nakita po namin nung ginagawa namin, kasama nga ng SM, napakasuccessful. So sabi namin, subukan natin na dalasan. Kung maganda ang maging resulta, ang plano talaga namin ay gagawa kami ng ganito bawat buwan,” he added.
Under this plan, job fairs will be launched inside and outside Manila, and much frequently, to bring it closer to Filipino job seekers.
In addition, Marcos also highlighted that these job fairs will not only provide job opportunities for job hunters but shall provide them “quality jobs” when hired and employed.
“Kailangan, kung ano man ang hawak nilang trabaho, dapat ‘yong tinatawag na quality jobs—na may potential na ma-promote, na maging mas maganda, o kung sakali man ay makapagtayo ng sariling negosyo na tutulungan po natin upang makapag-expand,” he quoted.
Following this, PBBM assured that the government will continue to work with different agencies and various sectors to improve the quality and level of job opportunities for the Filipino people.
