SOUTH KOREA IMPOSES STRICTER ENTRANCE REGULATIONS FOR PH, 158 OTHER COUNTRIES

The Republic of South Korea started the implmentation of stricter border controls and health regulations for tourists and travelers from other countries.

Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced that there are 159 countries designated as “Quarantine Inspection Required Areas,” that are subjected to additional health requirements before tourists from these countries can enter South Korea.

KDC defined Quarantine Inspection Required Areas as countries where quarantinable infectious diseases are prevalent or are likely to become prevalent, posing a risk of being introduced into South Korea.

In Asia and Middle East, 37 countries fall under the Quarantine Inspection Required Areas , including Philippines; 53 countries from Africa; 52 from America and Oceania; and 15 from Europe.

Regions and Countries that are designated as Quarantine Inspection Required Areas by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Hence, persons who visited, stayed, or transited through these areas and those that have exhibited symptoms suggestive of a quarantinable infectious disease are required to submit a Q-Code or a Health Declaration Form.

Q-Codes must be obtained within 7 days before travel and can be accessed online via the KDCA website, while health declaration forms are distributed on incoming flights to Korea or at the airport upon arrival.

Any of the two requirements can be presented at the quarantine inspection counter after arrival.

Failure to comply will be fined with at least 10 million won or about P408,000.
