ICC SETS FIRST STATUS CONFERENCE ON DUTERTE’S CASE ON MAY 27

Manila, Philippines — It has been more than a week since the International Criminal Court PRe-Trial Chamber confirmed the 3 grounds of the crimes against humanity case against former President Rodrigo Duterte.

This signaled that Duterte would undergo a full trial.

Following this, the ICC set the schedule of the first status conference in relation to the case on May 27.

The first status conference is the procedural hearing conducted by the Trial Chamber to establish the foundation of the criminal trial, as well as setting a trial date for the case.

In this regard, the Chamber has also instructed all parties to file submissions regarding the date for the trial, the prosecution’s submission of evidence, agreed facts under ICC rules, and to determine the language to be used in the trial.

Also included in the submissions are the disclosure of outstanding material from the prosecution, Defense disclosures, trial briefs provisions, related motions, duration of statements, and other updates related to the upcoming trial.

All parties have until May 15 to file the required submissions.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
