CBCP TO EXTEND PRAYERS, RELIEF FOR VICTIMS OF MINDANAO QUAKE

Manila, Philippines — Following the strong 7.8 earthquake that hit parts of Mindanao on Monday, the death toll has risen to over 3 dozen as of last reports.

In line with the tragedy, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has extended its grief and condolences to the victims of the tragedy, as well as support for their families.

Amidst these difficult times, CBCP called on the Church to remain as a symbol of hope, comfort and charity.

With this, CBCP called on all the dioceses, parishes, religious communities, and Catholic Institutions to offer a special prayer of the faithful during all the masses next sunday.

This prayer shall be offered for all the victims, their families, first responders, as well as for the speedy recovery for the affected communities.

Aside from prayers, CBCP will also provide emergency relief support for the most affected areas.

CBCP calls on all bishops to authorize a second collection on all ots masses on June 14.

Proceeds will be transferred through diocesan social action centers at Caritas Philippines and will be used for emergency relief support and rehabilitation efforts.

Further, the CBCP urged the public to continue its prayers for everyone facing challenges and difficult times.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
