The Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has chosen to remain silent on the controversy surrounding the Machong Chismisan podcast, which drew criticism for mocking her son, Josh Aquino.
In a recent Instagram post, Aquino explained that she chose not to respond to what she described as “irresponsible and uninformed opinions.”
“A friend who i admire for his wisdom told me there are people i should learn not to give oxygen to, in other words ignore and the issue dies a natural death. By never stating their names, or my feelings, they didn’t get the word war from me they were expecting,” she wrote.
Aquino also addressed concerns about her family, revealing that Josh continues to help care for her while she deals with her health challenges.
Despite his own needs, Aquino said her eldest son does his part in caring for her from everyday.
“If i don’t post, i am in so much pain that i’m bedridden for 5 days, or if you don’t see reels- that’s the sign, i am in need of more prayers. I don’t want to ad to your burdens, I’ve read you admire my strength, that’s because i witnessed what our mom went through to prepare us, for life without her,” she added.
PODCAST HOSTS ISSUE DIRECT PUBLIC APOLOGY
Meanwhile, the Machong Chismisan podcast has issued another public apology—now directly to Kris Aquino, Josh, and the entire Aquino family.
In its statement, the podcast acknowledged that its conduct was insensitive, hurtful, and unacceptable.
“We take full accountability for our actions and behavior during the episode. We acknowledge that our conduct was inexcusable, deeply insensitive, and hurtful. We recognize the impact of our actions, and we do not wish to make excuses for the harm we have caused,” it said.
It also apologized to families caring for children with special needs, persons with disabilities, and members of the public affected by the incident.
The hosts said they had removed all content related to the episode and expressed willingness to work with organizations and advocates to improve their understanding of the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.
“Sa Pamilyang Aquino, lalo na po kina Ms. Kris Aquino at Josh, kami po ay taos-pusong humihingi ng tawad.”
“Nauunawaan po naming hindi sapat ang paghingi ng paumanhin upang mabura ang sakit na aming naidulot, ngunit umaasa po kaming maipakita sa pamamagitan ng aming mga susunod na hakbang ang aming tunay na pagsisisi at kahandaang matuto at magbago,” they ended.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag has already directed its units to investigate the remarks surrounding the podcast, according to a text message sent to TV host Boy Abunda.
Meanwhile, the Pod Network has already terminated its contract with the said podcast.
