INC MOVES TO LIWASANG BONIFACIO TO STAGE DAY 3 OF PEACE RALLY

Manila, Philippines — Following the surprise rally launched by the members of Iglesia Ni Cristo on Tuesday, various complaints from affected motorists have been received by the Quezon City LGU.

The surprise rally resulted in congested traffic along the EDSA White Plains area as the rally had no permit from the local government, hence, the reason for the lack of preparation for alternative routes.

This is still aside from their service vehicles blocking the right of way.

The second day of the peace rally on Wednesday has become more organized following the permit approval from the QC LGU.

The peace rally is already on its third day on Thursday, continuing its condemnation of the alleged selective justice in holding corrupt officials accountable.

The rally also openly extends their support to Senator Rodante Marcoleta who is expected to be charged with a plunder complaint in the coming days.

Marcoleta was carried by the INC’s block voting during the last elections.

However, the third day of rally was not staged on EDSA but shifted in Liwasang Bonifacio instead, after QC LGU revoked the permit for the third day of protest.

The QC LGU cited the various complaints they received during the past two protests.

The Manila LGU does not require a permit for any demonstration in Liwasang Bonifacio as this is a freedom park.

The local government allows them to stay and use the area for as long as they want, as long as they won’t be disrupting the public’s business.

Some groups have installed tents and mats within the premises, especially for those that have stayed overnight.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso suspended the classes on all levels for Thursday, bracing the impact of the peace rally in transportation.

The Manila Police District remains on guard around the premises to secure the area and prevent any untoward incidents.

MMDA, LTO, and other local authorities have been tapped as well to provide security during the peace rally.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
